William Laron Shoemaker (Bill), born on July 1, 1947, in Newton, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2025, at UMMC in Jackson, Mississippi. He was a beloved husband, father, brother, and grandfather, whose kind spirit and gentle nature touched the lives of many.
William was raised in a loving family, and his life was marked by an enduring love for the outdoors. He found joy in hunting and fishing, often sharing these passions with family and friends. He also had a fondness for watching football and westerns, providing moments of camaraderie and entertainment in his home. Riding his 3-wheeler was another cherished pastime, allowing him to embrace the beauty of the Mississippi landscape he so dearly loved. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Pearl, MS.
Known for his kindness, William was never one to raise his voice. His calm demeanor and genuine warmth made him a friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He will be remembered not only for his hobbies and interests but for the love he shared with his family and friends.
William is survived by his wife, Dianne Shoemaker of Pearl, MS; his daughter, Sherri Shoemaker Combs (Major) of Florence, MS; his, brothers Lindsey Shoemaker (Jimmie Lynne) of Lake, MS; Ronnie Shoemaker (Peggy) of Livingston, TX, and Randy Shoemaker (Mardy) of Gilbert, SC; his sister, Deborah Stewart of San Antonio, TX; his brother-in-law, Wayne Blackwell of Pearl, MS; and four adoring grandchildren, Major Garrett Combs, Michael Combs, Lauren-Holly Combs, and William Dylan Combs.
He was preceded in death by his father, WL Shoemaker; his mother and stepfather, Rachael and Dennis Scott and his brother-in-law, Ken Stewart
A visitation for William will be held on January 24, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:45 PM at Wolf Funeral Services - Lake, located at 136 Front Street, Lake, MS 39092. Following the visitation, a funeral service will commence at 1:00 PM and conclude at 2:00 PM, allowing family and friends the opportunity to pay their respects and celebrate his remarkable life.
